Stratton Brook Pond Road. Initally parked at sign but realized you could drive right down to the trail head. There was already three cars there so went down the road just a bit to a nice opening and parked there for car camping. Full lot when we were driving out Sunday. |

This was a really nice and challenging loop counter-clockwise. I have never done this trail and the Bigelows offered just amazing views. It was fun to chat with a handful of AT hikers nearing the end of their journey as well. Maine trails are so much less poplated than many of NHs so it is always nice to come over and hike and meet very friendly people and also have some solo time on the trail. The Avery campsite had quite a few people but it seemed like everyone dispersed differently. Thanks Maine for a wonderful day! Total hike came in at 12.2 miles/3,646 ascent for the day (according to gaia). |
