| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I followed the directions in the Maine Mountain Guide and got there perfectly. Mountain Rd is a good, but rougher gravel road (there are some camps then it turns into a multi-use trail). I recommend something with higher clearance, but you could get up it in a standard passenger vehicle. Just stay on Mountain Rd until you see the picnic table on the right park here. Can hold 6-7 cars if everyone parks well. |

What awesome views of Katahdin from this 2400 foot peak!! To find the trail: after parking, go left along Mountain Rd. In 100 feet or so you should see a handmade sign spray painted with the word "trail" and and arrow pointing right. You will see an older jeep trail/ woods road on the right. Follow this. There are no blazes. Stay right at all intersections (there are many diverging skidder paths). When you get past the huge bolder there are indiscernable signs with a path marked with flagging tape diverging right. Stay straight here. You just need to keep heading up. The path up to the Fire Wardens cabin is an old woods road. Beyond this is a narrower worn footpath to the summit. Enjoy this remote peak!!! |
