Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking is down a one lane dirt road off Byron Road - from Weld road is first right aftet the small mountainview cemetery. Spaces for 4 or 5 at the end of the road up a somewhat steep pitch, there is also a spot a few tenths of a mile from the trailhead with room for another 4-5 cars. There was a small tree that had fallen across the road - currently pletny of room to drive under but it will eventually block traffic.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A couple of small streams but easily crossed
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several blowdowns - one small tree below Pond Link trail junction - I trimmed branches to clear a path under, two fallen trees just above pond link trail junction blocking the trail - a path is developing around - one is large and may require a chainsaw, a couple - fairly large - after the largest stream crossing before heading up to the col but can duck under
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A great trail for the canines - plenty of water along the way
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes were out in force until the ledges, a few black flies at the summit - also found a few ticks climbing up my shirt sleeves - bug spray is probably a good idea

Comments
Comments: A great mountain near Weld, Maine - eaay/moderate grades with the exception of one short steep section heading up to the col. Lots of water on the trail toady - trail is basically a small stream in numerous locations so expect boots to get wet. Patches of mud - some can be avoided others cannot. In heading up/down steep section watch your step as rocks and roots in the trailbed are wet and slippery. Ledges heading up to the summit were dry.
