Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Small brooks easily crossed on rocks
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in generally good condition. Sign at junction of Little Jackson Connector and Little Jackson Trail is difficult to read. The sign at the junction of Little Jackson Trail and Pond Link is propped up at the base of a tree but it is informative. Three evergreens across the Jackson Mtn Trail (~10", ~8", and ~3" diameter). Several small birches across the Pond Link Trail. It was easy to get by all tree falls. Some erosion on trails. Undergrowth on Pond Link crowding trail in areas where birches damaged by ice.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw many dogs today.
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs in the higher elevations due to the incessant winds. Some black flies down low on the Brook Trail in the evening.

Comments
Comments: Great trail system in the Tumbledown area. Most of the surfaces were dry. The hike over the ledges of Little Jackson was particularly a pleasant surprise. Mt Jackson has small structure and helicopter landing pad at the summit. Moose droppings on trails especially the Jackson Mtn Trail. Excellent views of Webb Lake, Tumbledown Pond, and surrounding mountains. I hiked up to the ledges overlooking Tumbledown Pond but did not bother continuing all the way to West Peak. Rhodora was in bloom in many areas. Also saw lots of Painted Trillium and Bluebead Lily. Many hikers on the trails today. Most, if not all, were from Maine.
