Comments: Old dirt road, blue blaze, yellow blaze loop trail

Spectacular day for this adventurous hike. Concord pond still frozen. Very icy spot just as you start on the blue blaze trail. Dry mostly to Bald loop junction, a little snow at the loop sign but yellow blaze around ledges is dry. Great view of Shagg pond and surrounding hills. On & off snow with postholes on the Speckled mountain trail. Once you get to the steep part you better have micro spikes because it’s very icy, wouldn’t have attempted it without them. On & off snow once you hit the open ledges to the summit.... a little hazy today but nevertheless great views from the presidentials to Saddleback wind in Washington township.... saw 3 Bald Eagles at the summit.... had to take it real slow going back down the icy steep section then it was clear sailing back over Bald and down to my vehicle. Started off at 29 degrees... around 60 when I was finished. Highly recommend this hike, it’s a beauty.
