| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Unsurprisingly, the gate was still closed on Rt 113 0.3 miles South of Brickett place. Ample parking on the side of the road near the gate or near Cold River campground. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
I judged the Blueberry Ridge and Bickford Slides loop crossings of Bickford Brook too risky and turned around after unsuccesfully scouting about 200 yards upstream for an easier spot. The only reason I checked light traction is that micro-spikes and poles will help attempts to wade across the strong current. 99% sure I would have made it, but failure could mean being swept into the gorge. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Lots of leaves clogging the water bars, but that is true most places this time of year. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
The water crossing would be hazardous for dogs, too. |
| Bugs: |
None. No ticks, either |
