| Comments: |
This local trail offers surprisingly wonderful views over the River Valley all the way to Mount Washington from the open ledges at the summit of Sugarloaf. You will likely need the trail description from Mainetrailfinder.com or the Maine Mountain Guide in order to follow this trail. The lower portion is unmarked. Once you turn right (small carin) to begin the final assent to the summit there is a combination of faded maroon blazes and orange flagging tape to mark the way. This section is very steep with poor footing. Such is Maine... It is a relatively quick hike though you will be sweating buckets! Only one patch of snow persists in the old log yard. Bare boots are the footwear of choice. |
