We did this one to wrap-up our mini-Maine vacation. The storm Sunday night had dumped a few inches of snow at the higher elevations but very little down low. One in our group started out with spikes while two opted for snowshoes - although they weren’t needed down low the heel lifts made the steep climb more enjoyable. The upper half did have enough snow from Sunday to make snowshoes a helpful tool. Although there was a group of people that did take the right towards the Eye Brow, we did not visit it either on the way up or on the down. We never saw them again and there car was gone so not sure what they ended up doing.
Monday’s storm arrived while we were on the mountain - while we broke the trail both up to the summit and back down again, our work will fade into obscurity. Within ten minutes our steps were filled in and there was no evidence that we were even there. When we left the summit there were no prints - all we did was add to the compacted monorail underneath the fresh snow. The route was easy enough to follow since I’ve done it a few times. It there are slot that you need to double check for the next blaze. |
