Comments
Comments: Located in Hiram Maine south of Fryeburg on Rte 113. Gave this little mountain a try and it didn't disappoint! There are a number of view ledges to take in views to the north and south. 5 miles trails allow various ups and downs or loops - We took a loop of about 3 miles. Parked at the new lot as they are trying to get people off the Barnes trail which is as the say very steep and eroded. Trails are are generally easy to moderate with just a few steep pitches one on white flag below the first ledge and one on ridge walk just above this ledge. Several trails we took were just recently blazed - good thing on NW trail since the trail is so new it was hard to distinguish the trail from the surrounding woods. All trail junctions are nicely singed providing distances to the next junction. Note that no trail goes to the actual summit. If you're in the area in the next few weeks give it a go - the foliage should be amazing!
