| Comments: |
trails were mostly dry with some wet sections. at the first stream crossing on the wassataquoik stream trail we bushwhacked east in generally open, but wet woods with some notable undergrowth. at about 2200 we turned more northeast and headed up more steeply in mixed open and coniferous forest with some scrappy stretches and rocky footing. once on the upper mountain the grades moderated and the going was good to the scrub line. numerous moose paths helped out on the way to the open rocky summit. views were spectacular in all directions with the east side of kathadin front and center. we descended on a more easterly line and a bit farther down before turning west towards the wass stream trail and had even better going than on the ascent. |
