Comments
Comments: This is a very short but very steep hike to the summit. A lot of rock scrambling and loose rocks. There is a section called the chimney and there is a rope to use. Very challenging... no bypass trail so you have to use the rope. If you don’t have a lot of hiking experience under your belt I wouldn’t recommend climbing this trail. A fall could mean serious injury or possible death on some sections of this trail. A few spots skirt the edge with loose footing. But.... the rewards are beautiful views going up and the summit. Breathtaking views of spencer pond, Moosehead Lake, Mt. kineo, Bigelow Mtn. 100 mile wilderness, Big spencer Mountain, Mt. Katahdin, and many more mountains. Very remote trailhead... at least 10 miles from Kokadjo on logging roads, be prepared on possibly seeing no one.... I saw 5 moose including a big bull moose standing on the bend of a stream in the morning with both Spencer mountains in the background.... very cool.
