Trails: Jeep road, herd path
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 20, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From ME27, near Canada, hang a left at Round Mountain Pond Rd. This is Penobscot Nation property. Follow the main road until you reach a turn around where the road is barricaded by closely spaced boulders. Park there and commence your hike.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Jeep road after the barricade on Round Mountain Pond Rd. is deeply rutted by ATVs and is filled with a lot of water. I was not able to keep my feet dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Bushwhack, herd path. The cairns mark the herdpath departures from the rutted soggy Jeep trail pretty well. I thought the herd path was much more pleasant to tread on than the soggy ATV rutted Jeep trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Nope
Bugs
Bugs: The bugs were the most difficult aspect of the hike. They were relentless, bloodthirsty and supremely annoying.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: Pay attention to the cairns. They mark the "trail" which is really a very well defined herd path.
