Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few minor crossings and a lot of mud holes that can not be drained on the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Only saw 1 yellow birch tree across the trail that was a walk around. Some bog bridges need to be replaced and mud holes need to have step stones installed. There has been a lot of rock step and step stone work done on these trails but there is need for more.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 6 dogs today, 4 were on leashes and one was being carried.
Bugs: None, but it was very windy most of the day.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A few pieces of trash that I carried out.
Comments: A really nice day with temps from 55 to 70, sunny early then clouds and sprinkles by 3PM. Rain came down hard when I was headed back home on Route 2 in Newry. Saw about 60 hikers and 6 dogs. Nice views at several areas on these trails. An early start gave me time to get to Speck Pond and Mahoosuc Arm.
