Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 1, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There are a few ruts on Curry Rd that might be an issue for low clearance vehicles
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy hopping
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: At least 3 notable blowdowns causing some rerouting of the trail. There were several other duck unders and hangers waiting to come down on somebody. Blazes need to be refreshed, especially in the first mile. The trail isn't always obvious in the open woods...
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There was water flowing at the foot and ridge line of the mountain. You shouldn't need to carry water until it gets hot/dry.
Bugs
Bugs: Moderate overall. A solid mix of mosquitoes, gnats, and black flies. Basically none up high :)
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Somebody left half a campsite next to the trail up high. Blue tarp, hoodie, other stuff. If you are up to dragging it all out, that would be awesome.

Comments
Comments: Great day. Comfortable temps. The bugs weren't overwhelming. The views were great, with an ethereal haze on the horizon. Awesome summit. Don't underestimate this trail. It's rocky and rooty, with tricky footing for most of it. Hard on the ankles and knees, even if you don't take a bad step. Snow can be found in sparse patches above 2700 feet. With all the shade, it might take a full 2 weeks to melt it!
