Comments
Comments: After climbing the huge roadside berm across from the parking lot, it was discouraging not to see any trace of a packed trail. Further in the woods, however, there was a great trench with just a few inches of new snow. This pattern held for the entire route- in wind exposed areas the trench filled in, sometimes completely obliterated, but more sheltered areas were easy travel. The exposed climb up East was largely snow free, mostly lightly frosted rock with surprisingly sparse ice. Thanks to the large group that broke out the trail Saturday and the smaller group on Tuesday that packed down the Sunday-Monday snowfall.
