 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Only access to Wiggle Brook Road is from east side a few miles north of the Kennebago Kamps on Kennebago River Road. Bear Brook Road is immediately on the right after crossing over the river. We drove 7/10ths of a mile and parked, not willing to risk my all wheel drive car though it might have made it. A Jeep Cherokee made it the next mile to the first big culvert blow-out. |

 | Comments: |
Mid-day sun was super hot walking up Bear Brook Road, About a mile later we met a group of people having a cookout at the first culvert blow-out.
We marched up the road followed herd path from end of the road, the treadway is worn in the slash and it was easy not to miss the turn into the woods. We followed all the way up to the col, at big cairn herd path continues up the ridge all the way to White Cap. I am guessing ATVs used to ride here since the path is so wide. We returned to the col and we discovered herd paths in all directions and onr is well washed worn that goes over the col and not towards Kennebago Divide. Not wishing to descend to the lower herd path intersection we took a bearing and headed towards KD and somewhere in the middle of the col we saw orange flagging and we intersected the herd path--woods were fairly open. Easily followed herd path all the way to the summit. We retraced our steps on the return and attempted to follow herd path back to below the col but we lost it but didn't care We just walked through the open woods until we hit the "trail" again. This outing was just over 11 miles. Nice to find the recognized high points. Long road walk back. Charlie likes these kind of bushwhacks with trails ha ha. |
