Had planned to hike Bemis Mtn, but couldn't find the trailhead for the Stream Trail (and parking), and wasn't sure if I could park at Height of Land, so I jetted over to Saddleback. I hadn't hiked the AT up, and the length was similar, so it turned out alright. It had rained the night before, and the upper portions of the trail were literally streams. None were too deep, but getting a bit wet was almost inevitable; glad I brought extra socks. This approach is much longer and more rugged than hiking the ski trails, but is worth it. It was a beautiful day and the summit was crowded, and saw lots of thru and day hikers. |
