Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None. There is not a lot of water on this trail so bring what you need.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in really good condition, a little eroded going up North peak but hardly noticeable.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The lower half of the Burnt Meadow Trail, all of the Twin Brook/Stone Mountain trail would be fine for dogs. The upper part of the Burnt Meadow Trail is somewhat step though experiences hiker dogs should not have a problem. Otherwise they might need a push because this section is steep. Descending would be tricky so if you have dogs you might want to go counter-clockwise.
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly not bad at all. On the summit of Stone Mountain you have to watch out for ticks.

Comments
Comments: Trail in great condition. Hiked the loop clockwise, Burnt Meadow to Twin Brook, Twin Brook to Stone Mountain and back. Then followed the rest of Twin Brook to the Burnt Meadow Trail then back to the car. The upper part of the Burnt Meadow trail from the summit is steep with loose rock/scree, not too bad if you are used to trails in the WMNF. If you descend slowly you will be fine. Twin Brook was also an enjoyable walk through the woods. Nice views of the surrounding countryside from all viewpoints. Loop about 3.5 miles, fun hike.
