Comments
Comments: Wanted to do the Loop Trail, but a note at the trailhead sign dated 4/30 indicated there was impassable ice at the chimney tunnel. My loop was a good Plan B. Interesting wildlife encounter - a predatory bird (hawk, eagle, falcon ... I dunno) attacked me five times, flying straight at me and veering off at the last moment. I grabbed a fallen tree limb as a weapon and took swings the final three times ... did not connect. I assume there was a nearby nest it was protecting, but needless to say it was a rather frightening situation.
