 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was able to drive to the gate on CVR as it was frozen solid in the morning. A lot of deep (frozen) mud-tracks but it was doable. Only a few icy patches. Even with a cold day it was soft and muddy in the afternoon - more tricky.
Would not recommend attempting this without AWD and high-clearance. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None of significance. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trail register at Redington is a patchwork of lose paper notes. Maybe a generous person could bring a note-pad of some sort. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Should be fine - but the steep section above Crocker tentsite could be a challenge. |

 | Comments: |
Barebootable all the way except for the steep section above the Crocker tentsite. I only descended this section and used microspikes as I did not bother changing footwear - but it is sketchy. It is worth bringing more substantial traction just for this section.
Snowshoes would be good above 3,000 ft. with a few inches of fresh-powder and the trail not always consolidated. |
