Comments
Comments: Directly behind the Napa store dumpster we crossed the railroad track and the bicycle path onto a dirt road. Straight ahead was a gate with a single well worn No Trespassing attached to it. We walked down the dirt road a ways and entered the woods and we just headed up and slabbed slightly south. The woods were mostly open and we thought we must be on old ski trails and we found remains of an old rope tow. There were open areas that appear to be cut and we saw orange flagging marking what I believe might be a back country ski trail to the summit. We found the top of the old rope town, complete with engine and counter weight. We continued straight up and we walked into a single T-bar tower still standing, we saw concrete bases along the way. Well we made the summit and stayed far away from Tower just south of the highpoint. Along the way there were nice views from open areas of Fryeburg and spied Jockey Cap too. We descended vering more south and we ran into the orange flagged trail again and more of the rope tow trail. This trail head far south and we folloed it until we reached the road that are used for XC skiing (we saw a sign XC skiing only). Great hike and fun to discover the old lifts.
