the trail follows the road all the way to the summit. other than the sign at the start it isn't marked in any way, but the route is very clear. down low it is quite wet at the moment with patches of wet snow and running water. some more continous snow cover for a bit then soft ice and more bare ground around the summit. really not enough continuous snow to make snowshoes worth while. shortly before the high point a new looking white blazed and flagged trail entered and joined the road to the summit. don't know where this trail starts.
i had heard this was a nice little peak so after an earlier hike decied to check it out. it might be worth letting the trail dry out a bit as it was pretty wet down low. some limited views at the summit, but a much better view to pleasant mountain and some of the western maine peaks can be gotten by dropping down a bit to the top of the cliffs just below the summit. |
