Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: ANP requires leashes. Spring trail is a steep rock scramble with a few places a canine couldn't make it up without help, there are a few narrow ledges with dropoffs as well. This stretch can be avoided by heading down the carriage road (away from Jordan Pond) where the spring trail crosses to where the Penobscot mountain trail crosses the carriage road - this will add a little more than 1.5 miles but avoids any difficult terrain.
Bugs
Bugs: None until my return back on the Asticou trail where I was assualted by mosquitos and received numerous bites

Comments
Comments: Trails all in great shape! Great little loop on some of the higher peaks in ANP (that avoids the crowds on Cadillac). Great views of Jordan Pond, surrounding mountains, and out into the ocean and islands. A fair number of hikers up to Penobscot, ran across three groups between Penobscot and Sargent and back to trail junction. Sargent south ridge trail over to Cedar Swamp is a route that sees little traffic but has some great views especially down into the ampitheater when ascending down ridge on Penobscot. Cedar Swamp Mountain is a summit few people ever visit but has some views. From the junction of the Sargent south ridge and penobscot trails all the way back to Jordan Pond the only people I saw were a few bikers when I crossed the Carriage Road right before the junction with the Asticou trail
