Sawyer Mountain Trail (Limerick Trailhead)
We ascended from the Limerick side of the mountain. Starts out as a trail, turns into a beat up old wood road, finishes on a trail. The road section sees occasional ATV action. The summit has a nice open ledge with good views. Clean and free of trash. On the way down we easily detoured and bushwhacked down to the waterfall and on to the huge 0.5~ mile long "gorge" (a chasm likely caused by a glacial dam breach). The waterfall is nice but will probably dry up at some point. The gorge is pretty spectacular anytime. Neither have trails but are described on the land trust's map and are easy to bushwhack to from the parking area or the trail. |
