Comments
Comments: A short trek before heading home, headed up carriage roads for about 1.5 miles to connect with the north end of Parkman Trail - great views out over Somes SOund along the carriage roads. Carriage roads were solidly packed starting out but were getting soft in the stretches in the sun. One set of snowshoe tracks up Parkman mountain trail provided a solid base to the ridge right below the summit - only sank once or twice when I stepped out of the track; bare rock and some ice for the last couple hundred yards to the summit. Another perfect day with clear blue skies - Parkman Mountain packs in amazing views even though it is less than 1000 feet high and about 4 miles round trip. Carriage road had softened up once I got back so wore snowshoes back to the car.
