Another very cold morning in Maine(-20). Again started later than usual due to temps. Thanks to whoever did bushwhack from hole 11 to the CRV road, (a .9 tenths track from golf parking to CRV road.
At the Appalachian Trail, the trail was mostly obscured to completely obscured from the last recent activity. Some trail finding difficulties at open areas with heavy drifting and where no markings visible. Took some time before finding trail in some locations past and above the cirque campsite.
After hitting both summits, attempted to bushwhack to Reddington. Never being on the herd path before, it was a lost cause. After about a hours worth of bushing in very dense treefall and spruce trapping, it was time to turn around. On return going down, a few pitches so steep that backwards snowshoe stepping was the only safe, viable traverse back down, being on all fours. |
