Rugged climb up Deer Brook Trail, lots of great trail building near top (reroute in progress). Side trip to Sargeant Pond recommended. We chose to do this hike counterclockwise -- an excellent option as all the views to the Atlantic and Cadillac Mountain were ahead of us for the open one mile subalpine section of Penobscot. GREAT hike. Perfect weather. Finished in time to make the drive up Cadillac for the sunset and moon rise. |
