Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Things have *changed* since the 29th Edition WMG came out!!!!! There are around 3 logging landing areas (not just one as mentioned in the guide) along the trail past the cabin and the main trail is now a major skidder road. I felt like Monty Hall trying to pick which logging road to take from one of the logging areas: logging road 1, 2, or 3? Turns out, luck of the draw, I chose correctly... NOTHING is marked any more for hiking - there are *2* snowmobile roads you could take, not sure where the other one goes that I didn't take. I think the blazes are all on trees that left on logging trucks!!!! CRAZY amounts of slash and erosion and, GACK - HUGE oil slicks - looks like the lorax/BP OIL went through there - it is SHOCKING!!!! Glad I had my GPS and map readily available. Once you hit the forest boundary, all is fine - nice trail - very lightly used. Noone came up from the bottom of the Cold Brook Trail but me today - the rest took the Evergreen Link from the Inn, and for good reason. Is the Cold Brook Trail really open??????
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: lots of water!
Bugs
Bugs: pretty bad - really annoying in-your-face-type bugs!!!!

Comments
Comments: Interesting place to explore. I went up the Cold Brook Trail, dipped down to get the Evergreen Link Trail and then back up to the summit via the rest of Cold Brook. The parts that weren't logged were very nice. Really pretty ledges! Excellent views!
