Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, July 4, 2013
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There is no parking, I would say, at the Stone House Road (north) trailhead for Leach Link. (You might be able to squeeze in a car, but you'd be partially blocking the gate.) The big Baldfaces lot was nearly full, but there were still some spaces.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: About 15 yards of the Deer Hills Connector is under 3-4 inches of water. Bring sandals or get your boots wet. Ditto the Dam. An elderly gent from the AMC camp that I met there said it has been like that "since the Hurricane" (but I didn't ask whether he meant Sandy or Irene).
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Except for the underwater portions, Trails in good shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Yes, but not as bad as Shell Pond.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: Ledges Trail is signed "Not Recommended for Descent" at both ends. I agree, and today it was a bit hairy even for ascent, due to wetness of rocks.
