 | Comments: |
There is no snow at the trailhead and the trail is mostly free of snow up to about 1300'. At 1500' I put on the mini crampons. The snow is not deep anywhere on the long open ledges section. Once the trail enters the woods after the Tepee the snow is deep. My pole went down almost four feet at one point. The snow was well consolidated this morning, but when it gets soft there will be some great postholing in that section. Most people seem to follow the trail over to the cell phone tower. There were some faint tracts on the alternate trail. From the Tepee to the Firetower the ground was well covered with snow. There was quite a bit of snow on the top. The snow was almost as high as the top of the rocks on the north west side. I've never seen it quite that high up there. The directional signs at the top had been torn down. |
