Running water at one of the small "crossings" on lower Marston, but otherwise solidly bridged. |

One crawl under blowdown on lower Marston (below southern Coe junction) that we went around on the way down. Upper Marston toward North Brother very brushy, many spruce traps on the trail proper. Somewhat difficult to follow up high due to the snow depths. |

An MSR Lightning Ascent front crampon tooth, broken off at the rivet. I don't want it back or anything, but if you do find it, take it as a souvenir of our effort. |

A great trip with some of the Random Group of Hikers. Stayed at Camp Cozy in Nesowadnehunk Field Campground. Marston Trail had not been traveled since 1/20, so trail breaking was the name of the game. Trail started out with 3-4 inches over a packed base, increasing to 6+ near the pond, and 12+ up the ridge, with the base ever softening. Even in the level areas nearing the col, the snow made for slow progress. The upper Marston was in even worse shape with more snow, knee, to thigh, to hip deep at the time of our turning around. We made it to within 0.2 (as the crow flies) of the summit, up to about 3800 feet. Great trip, and challenging conditions, with a strong crew. Thanks guys! |
