Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A number of crossings, crossing at trailhead is largest and bridged by large tree which people are using to cross - otherwise a rock hop with some submerged rocks though there is another blowdown on the far side you'll need to duck low under if not using the bigger tree as a bridge; next crossing up the trail at head of the waterfall - rocks were slick at the actual crossing though easy spots just upstream that are rock hops, other crossing small and easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown right at trailhead across stream crossing that is in part lying across the larger tree people are using as a bridge - for those not using this you'll need to duck low under after crossing, a few other blowdowns up the trail 2 in the 6 inch diameter range that are easy step overs and one larger one that has actually broken into several pieces on the trail though easily gotten over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A short and steep hike but easy for the canines though those less experienced might need a boost on some of the rock scrambles below the first view ledges, lots of water today.

Comments
Comments: Not quite the sunny hike I was hoping for but still great, cloudy skies with some some sun breaking through on occasion and a few minutes of light drizzle. Mix of conditions on the trail - dry down low with trail getting wetter as you get higher, a few places with water running down the trail and damp rocks on stretch below Royce connector junction. Above the junction running water and wet rocks heading up - nothing too bad but enough wet and slick rock to keep an eye out for. However, the few rock scrambles up higher were dry and not a problem. A few people out on the trails today, a family coming back down from West Royce and a couple coming down from East Royce.
