This is a Trustees of the Reservations Property. Around 350' descent to falls area. There is cable along the edge of the falls so you don't fall in - this was reassuring as the nearby slabs were very slippery after the evening's storms. Anyway, first time here - lots of water. Most of the falls seem to be into potholes - lots of neat glacial potholes (the giant upside-down funnel-style). Saw a few folks. On the way back, we checked out the "stone bridge" - wasn't sure what to expect as we were thinking maybe this would be some kind of railroad bridge? It turns out it's a neat pothole that has formed a bridge because the bottom is worn away. Kinda hard to describe but neat to see nonetheless. Bridge is not on the trail so we had to bushwhack around to find it. It appeared as an icon on Gaia. On the way back, we checked out the shelter. Hot and humid! Around 2 miles round trip. |
