Comments
Comments: The Breakneck Ledge loop is an alternative to the North Skyline Trail-South Skyline Trail loop hike in the Great Blue Hill section of the Blue Hills Reservation. Both loops are about 4 1/2 miles long. Compared to the Skyline loop, the Breakneck Ledge loop has a bit less elevation change and none of the great views, but it is a lot less congested on busy hiking weekends and it's a nice route for hiking. It was designed primarily as an intermediate-advanced mountain biking loop, and is meant to be biked or hiked in a counterclockwise direction following yellow triangular blazes.

There's also a 6-mile novice-intermediate mountain biking route in the Houghton section, the Forest Path loop, blazed with white triangles, also to be done counterclockwise. DCR has a mountain biking brochure with open and closed trails and seasonal closure info, free at the Headquarters building.

Link below is to the DCR's Blue Hills brochure with printable trail map for all trails. If the print seems small, the zoom level is adjustable.
