| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don’t recall any blowdowns. Trail signs at most jcts. I think the only trail that wasn’t signed was Valley View Trail (at least from the summit). |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Dogs must be leashed. Good trails for dogs. I saw one. |
|
| Bugs: |
I’d used 30% DEET earlier and didn’t reapply. I didn’t find them to be bothersome. |

2nd hike of the day after my odd loop of sorts with a road walk, covering both Goat Rock and Minnechaug Mtn. I followed the loop as described in the guidebook. This was easy to do with all the signed jcts except at the summit where I don’t recall a sign for Valley View Trail so Gaia helped me to confirm that I was on the right trail. The only other potential spot of confusion is where Gaia shows a view loop of sorts SW of the summit along Valley View Trail. The trail is blazed in both directions so I guess for redlining purposes you should do both of them. There is no longer any view from the viewpoint though; at least not when there’s leaves on the trees. The trails were very dry, old, eroded, wide roads, except for Valley view which was a footpath. In fact, as if weaved it’s way through the brush around the summit, I thought it could even be trimmed back a little. Gaia had me at 2.1mi, 470ft of gain, and 50min. |
