Comments
Comments: began at roaring brook parking at 7:30carrying snowshoes and realized they would be on sooner than later. after about 5 minutes we strapped in we followed one persons postholes in 10-18" and 2.5miles to Rockwell rd, That's insane!!! they gave up after that as the tracks ended and retreated. My buddy and I continued to blaze the final mile in a foot and a half of virgin snow from the overlook trail to the AT to the summit. From the snow encrusted trees on the AT we could see cobalt blue skies overhead and were pumped that the weather window we had actually panned out. Nobody else around we decided to get some training and descended about 1/3 of the thunderbolt and bellows pipe. about 3100'elevation gain for the day. Finally saw some life around noon at the summit, about 6 people. Chatted a bit with the x-country skiers before our final descent. Absolutely gorgeous out there, bring your snowshoes and enjoy full winter conditions!!!
