Nice 6.9 mile trail segment for a winter hike. We hiked from Grange Hall Rd to Washington Mountain Rd (aka Pittsfield Rd). Could cut that in half by going to Blotz Rd. Nice view of Greylock from Warner Hill.
There was between 1" and 6" of snow. Mostly <2". Never a problem finding the trail. There was a crust of snow. Often there was a wee bit of powder on an icy surface. But it was not enough for me to break out Microspikes or snowshoes which I had in my pack.
The hike connected the dots for us for 448 miles of section hiking from middle of Mass, through VT and NH past Saddleback Mountain in Maine. |
