$5 per car to gain access to the NWR. There are a half-dozen parking areas over the length of Refuge Rd., which runs the six-mile length of the NWR, and two more small lots in the Mass. DCR's adjacent Sandy Point Reservation, at the south tip of Plum Island. |

It was low tide when I did the majority of my Plum Island beach-walking, and there were some shallow tidal flows to cross. |

The formal trails in the National Wildlife Refuge are few and short, but interesting and well-maintained. Lots of boardwalks. |

A natural wonderland! I'm not much of a birder, but was glad I brought my binos and had much fun studying the diverse winged wildlife. |
