Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, July 18, 2010
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at the DCR's lot for Cutler Park on Kendrick St. in Needham, but there are a few other places you could use.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Plenty, on boardwalks that are mostly in good shape.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This is a recent extension of the Charles River Greenway and some of the sections along the south edge of Cutler Park Res. and between the Wells Ave. office parks and the River in Newton are sketchy - paths lightly blazed that haven't yet gotten much traffic.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw plenty of dogs in the popular section of Cutler Park - from Kendrick St. to Powell's Island. Others on the side side, in Millenium Park and the Brook Farm Site.
Bugs
Bugs: Moderate, esp. for wetlands.

Comments
Comments: Needham Heights, Dedham, West Roxbury, Newton. A 10-mile gem, despite the section of road-walking between the SE corner of Cutler Park Res. and Millenium Park. The Mass. DCR's on-line map shows the whole Trail, but note that the intersection numbers shown for the trails in the Res. are all four digits too high, as far as I observed. Thus, "28" on the map was really 24.
