Comments
Comments: Granville State Forest. This is a nice, little-known place on the MA/CT state line in western Mass. It is adjacent to the Tunxis State Forest on the CT side, so there are plenty of trails between the two forests. There is no swimming in Granville SF because it is part of a public water supply watershed, but there are small campsites with a bathroom and showers for $12-14 per night, no camp store but firewood and trail maps available at: http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/western/gran.htm. The Hubbard River Trail follows the river all the way, with many small waterfalls. It is about 5 miles out-and-back with 450 feet of elevation loss/gain.
