 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the Hapgood-Wright Town Forest lot on Rte 126. A sign said there was a 2-hour limit, but I "got away" with 5 hours. There is parking at various places in downtown Concord, a mile away. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Emerson-Thoreau Amble has just recently been completed, by the Concord Trails Committee, and will not be formally dedicated until June. It has not yet been blazed, except with temporary markers. Many of the BCT blazes in Hapgood-Wright Town Forest, and south to Walden Pond, have been vandalized recently, sad to say. Careful attention will reveal traces of many trashed blazes. One blowdown, between Rte 2 and Walden Pond, which fell onto a BCT map stand. |

The Emerson-Thoreau Amble is also now part of the Bay Circuit Trail, replacing a long roadwalk on Cambridge Turnpike. (The BCT website will be updated soon to reflect this.) Thoreau's Path is an interesting loop of about a mile, on Walden Woods Project land between Rte. 2 and Hapgood-Wright. It is "illustrated" by apt Thoreau quotations (plus Dr. Seuss at one spot), engraved in granite. That was a detour for me from the rest of the hike, where I was a "guest co-leader," representing the Bay Circuit Alliance, on an AMC hike of the BCT, from downtown Concord to Walden Pond and back. |
