Crews at work removing trees for larger parking lot and bathroom of some sort at upper parking lot. Would not be surprised if access was closed for a few days week of 5-21 to 5-24. |

When stopping to talk to worker black flies swarmed us like I've never seen here before. Maybe the machinery was stirring them up. T-shirt draped over head was a savior. |

Had to do a little off trail to avoid being in the way today. Trail all dry except for a few 20 foot sections. Ice bulge (mentioned earlier by Emerel) has finally become doable; was a 1-2 foot thick 2'x4' block of ice Thursday and soon to be gone. This ice bulge has been a worthy destination for photos most of year (many on my cell). Ridge Tr. still signed as closed but will definitely be open 5-25 if not earlier. |
