Well the last time I was on mt Ellen it was from the Abraham side. Jerusalem trail i thought was great and it was not too steep. It was very gradual up til the last about 200’ of elevation. The 1.8 or so of the long trail I will say seemed like it too forever. We put our spikes on very close to the top of the ridge on the jerusalem trail. There was only about3-4†of snow below the ridge. Once on the ridge there is a lot more snow, snow in the trees, snow everywhere. We still were walking through on spikes and bareboots in a group in front of us. We made it to the peak which now has a summit sign. When we came out of the woods back to the chairlift-the ski rolled in directly in front of us and the wind and snow/freezing rain came through hard on us. Therefor we did not stop-we almost ran off the summit and down the long trail. Our 4 tracks and the other group of 4 made it a nice path/pack on the trail. I was in shortsleeves for most of the jerusalem trail and now i was in my puffy quite cold. We got off the ridge and it had stopped snowing. Our tracks had gotten some snow in them and the snow cover followed us back to the car but also making the trail very muddy. Well we got down the trails and the crew got another VT 4k |
