Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Long Trail was VERY wet in many places with running water in places I have never seen it before. All easy to cross or walk thru.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blow-downs along the stretch between Abe and Lincoln Peak
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: If you have an athletic dog who is in good shape and can handle long miles with lots of rocks, this is an awesome hike. Saw 5 other dogs approaching the Abe summit as we made our way down.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad until we were on our way back to the car. Then the black flies arrived.

Comments
Comments: Grublet and I had an awesome hike. Love this stretch of the LT so much and it was a great way to kick off the new hiking season. 12.6 miles total from Lincoln Gap to Mt. Ellen and back again. The rocks are VERY slick right now so make sure you take your time and watch where you put your feet. And please be sure you are wearing the correct footwear! I saw a few people in regular sneakers and one was having a wicked tough time heading back down the mountain. Hike smart and have an awesome time.
