We used the route from the GMC Day Hiker's Guide to VT, to approach Mother Myrick. The route is straight forward and is mainly a single road to the top. Prior to reaching the col between Spruce Peak and Mother Myrick, we began bushwhacking, slabbing towards the ridge towards Bear. Once on the ridge, we rejoined the road and followed it along the ridge. There is an extensive maple sugar operation, which we walked along for the majority of the length of the ridge. The road was in and out, until the accent to Bear, where it dropped off and was no longer useful. We bushwhacked up Bear, in mainly open woods. We noted the wreckage of a plane around 2900 ft. on the North East ridge. The highpoint is recognized. We returned along the ridge, following the road all the way up to the shoulder of Mother Myrick, where it joined the route to the peak. We went to the highpoint of the peak and returned via the road/trail. |
