parked in the small parking area about 100 yds short of heaths gate on arthur white road. there are still many mixed messages out there about whether mt. cabot trail should be hiked or not so you'll have to make your own call. it certainly gets plenty of use. |

 | Comments: |
the lower portion of mt. cabot trail where it follows the road through logged areas is in good shape and mostly dry. more mud and wet sections farther in. a trace of snow started near the brook crossing, became sporadic in the open woods below the ridge and then became continuous once on kilkenny ridge. only an inch or two to start. some ice underneath at times on the ridge with snow cover increasing and some monorail snow starting below the cabin. continuous monorail snow up to a couple feet deep from the cabin to the summit. i bare booted to the ridge and then used microspikes to the summit once ice started appearing under the snow.
after some clouds in the morning along with some spitting snow things cleared off nicely up on cabot. nice to run into earl and sue. great to be out.
