| Comments: |
Boulder trail and the trail to Straightback is basically an ice sidewalk.
About a quarter mile of the trails I took to and from Mt Major is clear of most ice/snow.
I used microspikes and would not have attempted without them.
I started going back down Mt Major trail, but being alone decided it was not worth the risk. The 'top' of this trail to Mt. Major offered too much potential for a badly ending butt sled ride. Boulder trail, however, is more south facing and most of the final climb was free of ice and snow.
The snow depth was minimal... so you could avoid some of the ice in the woods without worry of postholing. |
