Great Winter day out with light snow all day. Trails packed out with trace to 2 inches of fresh powder accumulating throughout the day. Used microspikes to the slide and switched to crampons which we kept on until we reached the bottom of the steeps on return. Snow shoes for the rest of the way.
Snow shoes would have been fine on the ridge although crampons needed for the chimney bypass. We had no problems there while exercising great care. Some would be comfortable with shoes all the way. |
