Wore snowshoes roundtrip - best choice in today's conditions. Hodgepodge of conditions.
About 2-3 inches of new spring snow/wet granular for the first mile or so. Starting to set up.
Off and on breakable crust started to form around 2,800 feet.
On ridge, there were a few patches of wet/sticky snow with southern exposure. Breakable crust on eastern slopes. Mt. Tecumseh summit loop steeps starting to fill in. Sosman Trail summit loop rocky area has filled in.
Ski trails nearest the hiking trail were closed today (presumably all but the one near the viewpoint will be groomed tonight). |
