Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No obstructions on the trails. Some tree falls across the trails on the ground that are easily stepped over. Cut several trees today to make for easier passage. The section of the Black Cap Connector trail between the snowmobile route is less distinct than the remainder of the trail. The trail arrow at the upper junction of the Black Cap Connector and the snowmobile route has been missing for years.

Comments
Comments: The trails are 99%+ free of snow. The snow that remains is not too deep. There is no need for snowshoes or traction. There is some standing water in places as well as a few short sections with running water. Gaiters and waterproof boots are helpful at keeping the feet dry. Mud is not prevalent. The surface is dry leaves for the majority of the hike.
Excellent panoramic views from the summit ledges. I had the summit to myself. The only hiker I met on the Black Cap Connector Trail was a man from Fryeburg ME and his dog. They only walked a mile or so on the Black Cap Connector Trail. Eight days ago there were lengthy sections of the Black Cap Connector Trail with running water and the snow cover was more extensive and deeper on the trail. What a difference from today.
